Caring for Our Planet
Looking after our patients also means looking after the environment. We’re continually finding ways to reduce the environmental impact of our dental care.
Reducing Unnecessary Travel
Travel is the largest contributor to dentistry’s carbon emissions, accounting for 31% of patient journeys and 30% of staff travel. By bringing dental care directly to our patients, Yorkshire Mobile Smiles helps reduce unnecessary journeys and our collective carbon footprint.
Reducing Waste
We’re committed to reducing waste wherever possible. We work with an environmentally conscious waste company that supports biodiversity, including a pledge to install a beehive each year.
Where infection-control protocols allow, we use autoclavable alternatives instead of single-use items, alongside plastic-free wipes and cups. Our digital X-rays also eliminate chemical processing and film waste.
Making a Difference at HQ
We’ve introduced a range of measures at our headquarters to reduce energy use and waste, including solar panels, motion-activated LED lighting and paperless communication wherever possible. When printing is necessary, we use double-sided formats.
Our commitment extends beyond the clinic too. Our insect-friendly garden and bug hotel at HQ help support local biodiversity, while initiatives such as our allotment reflect our wider commitment to making more sustainable choices.
